硅硐密封膠具有結構性、耐老化性及抗紫外線性能，但它的致使弱點是水汽透過率高。故而硅硐膠適用于在光照強、環境差的地方，如玻璃幕墻等，同時必須使用丁基膠做一道密封。硅硐膠，在過去，我國長期依賴進口，現經貿委專門成立了硅硐膠領導小組，對結構膠進行安全認證。目前國內已有多家企業通過認證。
